FAQs

  • Why is this course being offered?

Cannabis care must be integrated into our healthcare practice and there is a dire need for cannabis education for practicing health care professionals, especially cannabis nurses. More healthcare organizations across the U.S. are now being mandated by law to allow medical marijuana patients access to their state-licensed products while a patient or resident. Nurses must be educated about cannabis science and harm reduction for users who choose cannabis as an alternative complementary treatment.

This cannabis nurse lecture series provides a foundational core of cannabis concepts for safe, appropriate, evidence-based healthcare practice.

  • If I am unable to attend this course, will it be offered again?

Due to ongoing demand, courses will be offered SPRING (January-February) and FALL (September-October) of each year.

If you are unable to attend the current course offering, be assured that the course will be offered twice a year, with updated evidence and an ongoing focus on cannabis as medicine, as more research has indicated what we knew all along: Cannabis is Medicine.

Join us when you can.

  • Are there any opportunities to try these hemp-derived products myself?

As part of the learning experience, all students will have the opportunity to partake of unique hemp-derived cannabinoid products to try themselves as we highlight the products available to our communities.

We call this perk your Cannabis Comfort Kit.

All enrollees will be able to receive FREE SAMPLES of the products we discuss in our course, including FREE tinctures, edibles, and smokables.

We offer this opportunity to sample some great cannabis products during our classes because we talk about each one of the cannabinoids in the product, and we request your feedback in return for trying these high-quality hemp-derived cannabinoid products!

Many individuals are still experiencing the stigma and stereotyping related to cannabis use. We want to offer our class attendees the opportunity to try what they feel comfortable with and provide feedback (evidence) based on the interactions they observe or feel. This is where it truly pays to be a healthcare professional – you can experience the effects yourself safely and appropriately after being educated about the products!

All paid attendees will be given a private, individual code that can be used to shop for free products before class and have their items sent to them prior to the start of the course.

If you wish to receive these FREE products, be sure to include your mailing address in the registration information.

  • Are CEUs/educational credit available for this course?

Every class attendee has access to course materials and resources before, during, and after the class.

  • I completed the course but would like to attend a few classes as a refresher; do I have to pay again?

No, all alumni from the classes will have access to our online course material and resources.

Course graduates are always welcome to join our classes as cannabis science and research advances rapidly. Repetition of classes provides the most up-to-date evidence supporting safe cannabis practice.

  • How is the classroom set up?

Our course is structured using an adult learning model in hybrid format.

Our online shared Google Classroom provides you with access to information using your computer or smartphone.

We meet virtually once a week to review cannabis concepts and to share learning experiences and knowledge.

  • Are there tests or grades in the course?

There are no tests or graded assignments in the course. All learning is based on the learner’s desire to understand and apply these important cannabis concepts to their own practice. Learners who are passionate about their subject don’t require grades to measure their passion.

  • Where can I use my knowledge in a job position?

Currently, there are no official positions requiring this level of cannabis knowledge. However, implementing these cannabis concepts into your own healthcare practice will be a first step in developing job opportunities for cannabis clinicians. Graduates are also invited to practice at Hemp Haven through our new Cannabis Nurse Health initiative.

  • If I take the class remotely via Google Meet, how do I get my free samples?

We ship our freebies to you via the U.S. Postal Service. If you will be attending our classes virtually, we will send out an individual code for you to use to select your own hemp-derived cannabinoid product samples – we want you to learn about them as we discuss them throughout the course!
