You’ve heard about the benefits of CBD, but what about CBG products? Although they are both cannabinoids from the hemp plant, they do have distinguishing benefits. CBGA, or cannabigerol acid, is known as the mother of all cannabinoids. That is because other cannabinoids like CBD first start as CBGA. As the hemp plant matures, these CBGA cannabinoids evolve, and very few (typically 1% or less) remain as cannabigerol. It is much more likely for CBGA to convert to CBDA. Once heat and light interact with CBDA, they lose their acidity and become CBD.

Recommendations for Use: Use as a dietary supplement. Take one or more servings (drop directly in the mouth or on food) up to twice a day or as needed.

What Is CBG?

Cannabigerol, or CBG, is known as the “mother of all cannabinoids”. Although it typically only makes up 1% or less of every hemp plant, it is the building block to ALL other major cannabinoids, including THC (delta-9-tetrahydrocannabinol) and CBD (cannabidiol). Over the last 50 years, hemp breeders and scientists have worked to cross-breed different strains to get higher concentrations of CBG in hemp flower. All cannabinoids originate from CBGa (cannabigerolic acid), the original acidic version of CBG, which only exists in younger cannabis plants. It only exists in extremely small amounts because it very quickly matures into the acidic versions of the other cannabinoids, like THCa or CBDa. These cannabinoids exist in the hemp plant as the acidic versions until they undergo a decarboxylation (heating) process (turning CBGa into CBG, THCa into THC, etc.). All extraction processes involve a heating process that activates the effects of the cannabinoids. So no matter what, you’re only consuming the activated cannabinoid, whether through smoking flower or swallowing tincture! CBG was first discovered in 1964, so it’s been around for quite a while. Like CBD, research around CBG began because scientists saw potential in its benefits. There are 3 different types of products that manufacturers make to tend to the different needs of consumers. These variations include full spectrum, broad spectrum, and isolate.

This Product is Full Spectrum CBG

Full spectrum CBG products contain all cannabinoids naturally found in the cannabis plant. This includes up to 0.3% Delta 9 THC! When THC is present along with all other cannabinoids, the cannabinoids synergistically increase the overall benefits and effects of the product. Simply put, this means that these cannabinoids work better together than they do separately. This marvel is more commonly known as the entourage effect.

Is Full Spectrum CBG The Best?

The best? Not necessarily. The most effective? Yes — since full spectrum hemp products contain all naturally found cannabinoids, they will provide you with the most well-rounded grouping of benefits to support your overall wellbeing. That said, we still think the best formulation boils down to your personal preference! If you know that a specific formulation makes you feel best, then we think that’s the best for you. We do highly suggest that you try full spectrum CBG oil if you never have before, though. This formulation is the only one that offers all of the benefits of THC, along with those of CBG, CBD, and other cannabinoids. This also means that full spectrum is the only formulation that offers the benefits of the entourage effect.

What Is CBG Oil?

CBG oil (also commonly called CBG tincture or oil tincture) consists of measured amounts of CBG hemp extract and a carrier oil. Common carrier oils typically include MCT, hemp seed, sunflower, avocado, grapeseed, and more. Sometimes, flavoring or other ingredients are also added to the mix.

CBG Oil: How It’s Made?

Depending on which brand you buy from, there may be different extraction processes used to isolate the CBG. Cheef Botanicals uses a clean CO2 extraction method that uses pressure and heat to extract CBG hemp extract. CO2 extraction can be more expensive than other methods, but it’s also the cleanest as it doesn’t leave behind any solvents or unwanted byproducts that could have potentially harmful effects. Once the CBG is extracted, it’s then refined. After being refined, it’s then blended with a carrier oil, like hemp seed or coconut oil. This may help improve the absorption of the product!

What Carrier Oil Does Cheef Botanicals CBG Oil Contain?

At Cheef Botanicals, we use hemp seed oil as a carrier oil. We like to use hemp seed oil because it’s natural, clean, and provides many added benefits to our CBG Oil!

What Carrier Oil Is The Best?

We think that hemp seed oil is one of the best carrier oils used for oils and tinctures. Aside from all the health benefits mentioned above, hemp seed oil is awesome because it promotes better overall absorption of CBD in your body. This is because cannabinoid molecules (like CBD and CBG) are lipophilic, meaning they dissolve and bond better in lipids or fats. Since hemp seed oil is so rich in fatty acids, it’s naturally one of the best oils for this job.

Cheef Botanicals CBG Tincture Potencies

You can purchase our Full Spectrum CBG Oil in:

  • 1200 mg CBG; each bottle contains ≈ 600 drops of CBG oil

Is CBG Tincture Legal?

Yes, CBG oil tinctures are legal! Under the 2018 Farm Bill, all products are federally legal as long as they are derived from hemp and not marijuana. Hemp plants have up to 0.3% Delta 9 THC content, while marijuana plants exceed this limit. As long as you find CBG products that are made from hemp and have less than 0.3% D9 THC, you’re in the clear to purchase them. While CBG is federally legal, restrictions may still vary by state. We strongly suggest looking into your own state’s regulations before purchasing or traveling with any CBG.

Are CBG Tinctures Safe?

CBG is generally well-tolerated by humans and rarely causes side effects. Any possible side effects are usually minimal and mild and fade away in time. More often than not, they can occur when you first try CBG. Once your body becomes more accustomed to it, they’ll subside and should occur less often. If you continue to experience side effects after consuming CBG oil for a while, we recommend consulting a health care professional for more information. In some cases, it could be related to existing health issues or health conditions, other sensitivities that you may not know about, or any prescription medication you’re currently taking. Generally speaking, though, the best products come from well-reviewed and well-established companies, like Cheef Botanicals. Avoiding cheap products from unknown brands can help prevent you from experiencing any side effects.

Can I Take Too Much CBG?

While consuming too much CBG is rarely harmful, it can cause you to experience side effects (usually in the form of drowsiness or an upset stomach). Finding the perfect amount to take is key to having the most effective and pleasant CBG experience. When trying out CBG for the first time — or, if it’s been a while since you last consumed it — we recommend that you begin with a lower amount. You can increase these amounts over time until you experience your desired effects. This optimal level is what should be considered your ideal CBG serving.

How Does CBG Oil Work?

Like all other cannabinoids in hemp, CBG interacts with the cannabinoid receptors in the human body. These receptors support the bodily functions that the endocannabinoid system (ECS) regulates. The ECS is a complicated system that helps to regulate many important functions such as digestion, sleep, mood, nervousness, and more. By helping to support your ECS, CBG supports your wellbeing. It’s important to mention that on its own, CBG should not produce any uplifting or euphoric effects when you consume it — it retains the benefits of hemp without giving you the feeling of getting “high.”

Break It Down: How Your Body Absorbs CBG

When you consume your CBG oil tincture, it first travels through and is absorbed by your digestive system. Once it’s absorbed, it’s metabolized by the liver before it eventually reaches the bloodstream. You’ll begin to feel the CBG effects after it enters your bloodstream!

Benefits Of CBG Tincture

CBG and CBD have very similar benefits and effects. For many people, it has been reported to be more stimulating and slightly more effective than CBD. The benefits of CBG oil can help improve your overall wellness. It helps to assist the human body by:

  • Naturally increasing your energy levels
  • Maintaining overall physical comfort
  • Helping to relieve dry skin
  • Boosting your appetite
  • And more!

Effects Of CBG Tincture

CBG has calming and soothing positive effects and is well-tolerated by most consumers. That being said, some may experience mild side effects, especially if they’re new to CBG. Possible side effects of CBG are generally mild and short-lived in nature, they can sometimes include:

  • Sleepiness or fatigue
  • Dry mouth
  • Eye redness or dryness
  • Mild upset stomach or diarrhea

CBG Vs. CBD

Though CBD and CBG are both cannabinoids, help support the ECS, and offer many of the same benefits, there are some differences between the two. The key differences are still being studied, however, certain things are relatively clear. CBG also has a reputation of being more stimulating than CBD, making it a great catalyst for promoting energetic adventures. If you’re someone who has a regular jogging routine, works the night shift at the local bar, or likes late-night study sessions, CBG may be the better choice for you. If you’re looking to wind down and catch some extra ZZZs, then CBD might be what you’re looking for.

How To Use CBG Tincture

CBG oil tinctures are most commonly consumed in two ways: under the tongue or swallowed directly. Here are the differences between each method:

  • Underneath Your Tongue. Simply apply your preferred amount underneath your tongue, and hold it there for about a minute before swallowing.
  • Orally Consume. You can also consume CBG oil by immediately swallowing your preferred amount or adding it to your favorite food or drinks.

How Long Does It Take To Feel The Effects Of CBG Oil?

The time it takes to feel CBG oil’s effects depends on how you consume it.

  • Underneath Your Tongue. When you consume CBG this way, you’ll feel effects faster because the oil will bypass your digestive system. Generally, you’ll begin to feel effects 15-30 minutes after applying CBG.
  • Orally Consume. When you orally consume CBG, you’ll begin to feel effects after 45 minutes to an hour. This time also depends on when you last ate and how much you ate since the CBG needs time to travel through your digestive tract.

How Long Do The Effects Of CBG Oil Last?

After consuming your preferred dose of CBG oil, you’ll experience effects for varying amounts of time depending on whether you consumed it sublingually or orally.

  • Underneath Your Tongue. 4-6 hours.
  • Orally Consume. 6-8 hours.

That means that if you want to experience effects for longer, it may be more worth your money to consume your CBG oil by orally consuming it. When you consume CBG this way, you’ll get to feel effects for more time because your body metabolizes more of the product through your digestive tract.

How Much CBG Oil Should I Take?

While there aren’t any official serving guidelines yet, we generally recommend that you take your CBG oil the same way you’d consume CBD oil. We suggest between 0.25 mg per pound of your body weight for a regular serving. For a more impactful experience, we recommend 0.5 mg per pound of body weight. Here are some examples of what calculating your dose looks like:

  • Let’s say you weigh 140 lbs. and want to consume a regular dose.
    1. 140 lbs. x 0.25 mg = 35 mg of CBG.
    2. This means you should consume 35 drops of CBG oil.
  • Let’s say you weigh 210 lbs. and want to consume a strong dose.
    1. 210 lbs. x 0.5 mg = 105 mg of CBG.
    2. This means you should consume 105 drops of CBG oil.

Are you new to taking CBG oil? You can try taking half of what a normal serving or a small amount to see how it affects you first. Then you can slowly increase the amount to a higher dose you take until you feel the desired benefits.

What Potency Of CBG Oil Is Right For Me?

Your perfect depends on your needs, and your body — when figuring out your preferred potency, you should keep factors in mind like your tolerance level, weight, age, diet, and more. We generally suggest that you start with a lower potency bottle if you’re new to CBG oil products. Lower potency CBG may also be for you if you’re looking for a product that you can consume daily. In some cases, buying a stronger potency bottle may also save you money in the long run, if you’re someone who often buys multiple lower potency bottles. If you’re more experienced with CBD, CBG, or other hemp products, we recommend you shop for a higher potency oil. Stronger potencies are also great for those looking for more specific relief. While all Cheef Botanicals’ CBG Oils are great, we offer three different strength levels. Those who are newer may want to start with 600 mg, while those who are more experienced may want to try out our 1200 mg and 3000 mg bottles.

What to Look for When Buying CBG Oil For Sale Online

Shopping for highest quality products online is easier than you may think! Keep reading with us to learn what to look for when buying CBG hemp oil online so that you can enjoy only the best products out there.

Know The Source

When you’re shopping with a reputable brand, you’ll probably be able to determine the source of your products, all the way down to the farm that the hemp was grown on! Knowing the source of your products will help you better understand why a product is great or not-so-good. Look for certified natural hemp sources, if possible. Shopping with American brands is the best way to guarantee you’ll know more about your products’ origins. Since hemp crops are more thoroughly regulated in America (by the FDA, USDA, and DEA), it’ll be more likely that you’re purchasing a hemp-derived product that meets necessary quality standards.

Check The COA

Certificates of Analysis (or COAs) are lab tests that demonstrate the potency and quality of products. COAs will be able to tell you whether a product contains within the legal limit of D9 THC, whether it contains any byproducts, heavy metals, or if any residual pesticides made it into the product, and more. Reputable brands like Cheef Botanicals will normally display COAs on their websites so that consumers can review the reports for themselves, too. Some brands even put QR codes on their products that link directly to COAs!

Check The Ingredients

High-quality ingredients are another indicator of a great product. When you see products with certification labels like “vegan,” “natural,” “non-GMO,” or “no preservatives,” it’s likely you’re looking at a product that someone formulated with your overall well-being in mind.

Understand The Terminology

When shopping for CBG hemp oil, you’re most likely to find the perfect product for you if you begin your search with a list of the things you’re looking for. The following questions will help you figure out exactly what kind of oil tincture you want to buy:

  • Do you know what kind of formulation you prefer?
  • What about what potency level you’re looking for?
  • Do you have a carrier oil preference?
  • Are you looking for a smaller bottle or a bigger bottle?
  • Do you care if your CBG oil comes with a measuring dropper tool?

Thinking about these things before you shop will help you find a CBG product that’ll closely fit your preferences and cater to all your needs.
